Kabaka Appoints Prince Kateregga to Lead Royal Clan

The Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi, has approved Prince Fred Ssande Kateregga to temporarily lead the Royal Clan following the passing of Chief Prince (Ssaabalangira) Musanje Godfrey Kikulwe.

The announcement was made by Buganda Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga at Kasawo in Kyaggwe during the burial ceremony of the late Chief Prince.

“Following the passing of the late Chief Prince Kikulwe, His Majesty the Kabaka will, in due course, appoint a new Chief Prince and formally hand over the staff of office, Ssegulirennume,” Mayiga said.

“In the meantime, the Royal Clan will be led by Prince Fred Ssande Kateregga, who was his deputy, until a new Chief Prince is appointed.”

The Katikkiro emphasized that the Kabaka has instructed that there should be no conflict, divisions, or power struggles within the clan during this transitional period.

Prince Fred Ssande Kateregga previously served as deputy to the late Chief Prince and will oversee the Royal Clan’s affairs until the Kabaka completes the appointment of a successor.
